Random Acts of Kindness
Over the years Wicked Sharp has helped out The West Roxbury Friends of Rosie's Place with raffle items. This is definitely a worthy cause to get behind, anytime of year - not just the holiday season. If you can help them out, it will surely be greatly appreciated, no amount is too small.
The West Roxbury Friends of Rosie’s Place, is an all-volunteer organization made up of members of the community, frequently serving meals at Rosie’s Place and sponsors this annual event.
All proceeds from the raffles, auctions, and meals go toward sending homeless and underprivileged children to Sunset Point Vacation House summer camp, supporting the Roslindale Food Pantry, and buying food for meals to serve at Rosie’s Place, of course.
Rosie's Place has been making a difference in so many people's live since 1974. In 2010 a new Women’s Education Center was completed in the space adjacent to Rosie’s Place at 887 Harrison Avenue. In classrooms on four floors, women could attend free onsite ESOL and Literacy classes.
Today, Rosie’s Place not only provides meals and shelter but also creates answers for 12,000 women a year through wide-ranging support, housing and education services. Rosie’s Place relies solely on the generous support of individuals, foundations and corporations and does not accept any city, state or federal funding. Thanks to these donations, 86 cents of every dollar raised goes directly to services for poor and homeless women.
